3rd Generation Abacus Mental Arithmetic
What is the 3rd generation abacus?
The 3rd Generation Abacus is a new generation abacus and is made up of columns of 9 beads and it can be learnt very easily. 3G Abacus only requires students to memorize 2 sets of Formulas, plus 10 and minus 10, which students can relate better to Mathematics. It is the modified and improved version of its predecessor, traditional abacus which is using 6 sets of formulas. Learning 3G abacus has the same benefits as the traditional ones.
Why the need for the 3rd generation abacus?
The traditional abacus will require pupils to memorize 6 sets of complicated formulas. Thus young children will find it very difficult to understand and learn them, and teachers find it tiring to teach too. Therefore the 3rd generation abacus was invented, and it only requires pupils to memorize 2 sets of formulas, which pupils can relate better to Mathematics.
Who will be able to learn this course?
As long as the pupil is able to read and write numbers, he/she will be able to learn the course. Pupils aged 4 years and above, primary school pupils and even adults can learn the course.
What are the advantages of learning this course?
Like the traditional abacus course, this course can improve one’s memory and thinking skills, and it also inculcates an interest in mathematics in the pupils. One can also learn how to add and subtract using both an abacus and mental calculation very quickly through the course.
Will the pupil be able to take part in the grading examination?
Yes, the pupil can take part in the grading examinations for both abacus and mental calculations, like for the traditional abacus course. In fact, the pupil can progress into the grading examinations faster through the 3rd generation abacus course than through the traditional abacus course.

Our preparatory programmes cater for both supplementary and enrichment classes to offer students a good head-start prior to new academic challenges...... start as early as Nov 2009
Year 2010 Classes (Primary Level) / (Secondary Level)
Our Value-Added Programmes:
- English Enrichment Programmes (Sec 1 to Sec4)
- Mathematics/Science Enrichment Programmes (Primary 1 to JC2)
Both the Programmes are specially packaged for students who want to discover mathematics and science on top of the basic syllabus. These programmes extend students’ enjoyment, appreciation of mathematics and science, understand concepts, improve their problem solving and their logical thinking skills.
*Entry Requirement ;Aptitude test as pre requisite
Both the Programmes are specially designed to help students comprehend, excel and experience success in the study of mathematics and science by providing systematic coaching and revision. In this mathematics programme, the conventional method of whole-part model as well as the heuristic approach will be adopted for solving word problems. In this science programme, understanding of the key concepts, rather than rote learning, will be emphasized. These intensive revision programmes are mostly remedial in nature.
The Programme is a comprehensive course to prepare students for various mathematical competitions. The objective is to develop higher order thinking skills through advanced problem solving activities.
The programmes are exclusively tailored-made for the talented students showing them the ropes of achieving the various objectives of GEP/IP besides academic excellence.
The programmes are specially designed to help students assess their level of understanding of each chapter taught in class. Our systematic and holistic coaching through the use of diagnostic and revision tests, detailed and well instructed notes, will help students learn, reinforce and consolidate the scientific knowledge and processing skills. The main objective is to give students a clearer insight into the process skills, i.e. to observe, analyse, classify, plan investigations, communicate facts, predict, infer, control variables and interpret data, all of which will prepare them adequately for their examinations. Emphasis is on question-answering techniques as well as applying concepts and knowledge learnt.

Advanced Physics/Chemistry Science Programmes as follow:
(SAT, Key stages 1,2,3); (GCSE, AS,A2);
(OCR, Oxford, Cambridge & RSA Exams);
(Edexcel, University of London Exam Board & Btec);
(AQA, Assessment & Qualifications Alliance);
(iGCSE, Cambridge International Exams)
The programmes are specially tailored-made. They are mainly conducted during the year end school holidays as intensive training.
